Perception and production of Korean discourse marker com (좀) by KFL and KHL students

초록

본고에서는 하와이 대학교의 한국어 중급반 학습자 120명(교포 58명, 비교포 62명)의 담화 표지 '좀'의 인지와 발화 실험을 통하여 담화 표지 교육의 실태를 파악하고 그 중요성을 알리고자 했다. 첫째, 발화 실험에서는 교포 학습자와 비교포 학습자 두 집단 모두 한국인 피실험자보다 ‘좀’을 월등히 적게 쓰는 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째, 인지 실험에서 ‘좀’의 역할과 통사적 위치에 대해 교포 학습자와 비교포 학습자 모두 비교적 올바르게 인식하였으나 두 집단 간의 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구 실험을 통하여 보았을 때 한국어 학습자들이 ‘좀’의 공손 표지로서의 기능을 잘 인지하고 있지만 실제 발화에서는 사용하지 못 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 격차를 줄이기 위해서는 한국어 교육 현장에서 ‘좀’에 대한 명시적인 교육적 처치가 있어야 할 것으로 보인다. 본 연구에서는 ‘좀’의 기능을 간략히 밝힘으로서 향후 ‘좀’을 한국어 교육에 포함시키는 데에 도움이 되도록 하였다.
