Identifying Pragmatic Uses of Evidentials in Korean Discourse: Observations from Native and Non-Native Speaker Data

초록

이 연구는 한국어 담화에서 증거성 표현의 사용 양상에 대한 분석을 목적으로 한다. 특히 한국어 모어(L1) 화자의 모국어와 일본인 고급 한국어 비모어(L2) 화자 간의 증거성 표현 사용 양상의 비교에 초점을 둔다. 증거성 어미를 대상으로 한 선행 담화분석 연구에서는 주로 ‘-더라고’나 ‘-다면서’ 같은 특정 증거성 어미를 한정적으로 다루었지만, 본 연구는 담화 속에서 발화되는 다양한 증거성 어미들을 두루 살펴봤다. 그 결과, 1) L2 한국어 화자에 비해서 L1한국어 화자가 보다 많고 다양한 증거성 어미들을 사용하였으며, 2) L1 화자가 L2화자에 비해 어떤 사실이나 정보에 대한 자신의 태도를 보다 분명하게 드러냈음을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과는 고급 수준인 경우에도 L2화자가 담화전략상 어려움을 겪는 부분이 있다는 것을 보여 주며, L2화자의 담화 능력을 보다 향상시키기 위한 증거성 표현 지도의 필요성을 보여준다.
