박물관 경영의 연구동향과 문화정책적 제언

초록

본 논문은 박물관 세계화에 대비하기 위해, 효율적이고 효과적인 박물관 경영을 위한 문화정책적 시사점을 도출하는 것을 그 연구 목적으로 했다. 박물관 경영의 연구동향을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 정책적 제언을 하기 위해 본 연구에서는 웹어브사이언스(Web of Science)의 논문 인용 통계 데이터베이스를 사용했다. 연구결과로부터 박물관 세계화를 위해 가장 시급한 문화정책적 시사점을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째 박물관과 관련기관들의 정보통합을 주도할 수 있는 실행 기구를 신설해야 한다. 둘째 박물관 전 직원의 정보화를 목표로 하는 새로운 정보기술 교육 시스템이 요구된다. 셋째 학생, 소외층 등 다양한 관람층에 대해 교육과 오락을 통합하는 에듀테인먼트(edutainment) 정보를 제공할 수 있도록 박물관의 사회적 기능과 역할을 확대해야 한다. 넷째 박물관의 재정적 안정성을 도모하기 위해 재무제표를 공개하고 민간자본을 유치해야 한다. 다섯째 박물관 세계화에서 경쟁적 우위를 확보하기 위해 국제표준화를 겨냥한 경영 매뉴얼을 마련해야 한다. 마지막으로 가상박물관, 산업박물관, 무형 문화유산 박물관 등 신 성장 박물관산업에 대해, 유형별로 정보수집, 정보저장, 그리고 정보교환의 표준화 작업이 필요하다.

Abstract

This article aims at drawing implications for governmental museum policies in the age of museum globalization. In order to analyze trends of museum management and to suggest possible cultural policies for the future, Web of Science, a citation index database, was used. From the research results, most urgent implication of cultural policy for the globalization of museum would be summarized as follows. First, there needs to be an institute to collect and integrate various museum data. Second, a new educational system is necessary to teach and train all employees working in a museum. Third, a museum should act as an "edutainment" organization to give both education and entertainment to various audiences including students and underprivileged people. Fourth, a museums should open their financial statements to the public and obtain funding from the private sector for financial stability. Fifth, manuals for museum management should be standardized to gain a competitive advantage in museum globalization. Finally, it is essential to develop a distinguished management methodology for specific museums, especially in newly growing sectors such as virtual museums, industrial museums and museums for intangible assets.
