Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of stress coping program for gifted children on their stress recognition and coping. The subjects were two groups(20 children in each group) from the gifted children classes of T elementary school and S elementary school in Seoul. Prior to the experimental treatment, stress recognition level and stress coping inventory were administered, then the experimental group participated in 10 sessions of stress coping program for 6 weeks, while the control group did not. To verify the effects of stress coping program for gifted children, post-test was administered after treatment. The results were analyzed by MANOVA and repeated MANOVA. The findings of the study were as follows: Compared to the control group, the experimental group is significantly low in stess recognition level and significantly high in stress coping ability. The above results can be taken as the indication that stress coping program for reducing gifted children’s stress recognition level and improving theirs stress coping ability can be applied in elementary school's gifted classrooms to reduce stress recognition level and improve stress coping ability.
