교육과학기술부는 2009년 11월 질 높은 유아교육 서비스 제공, 생애 초기 출발점 평등 보장, 선진 유아교육 기반 마련을 목표로 유아교육 선진화 추진 계획을 발표하였다. 목표를 달성하기 위한 5가지 정책 분야 중 하나인 미래지향적 교육과정 운영의 내용에 유아기에 달성해야 할 핵심역량 표준을 개발․설정하고 핵심역량과 연계한 교육과정을 개발할 것이 제시되어 있다. 본 연구는 미래 지향적 국가수준 교육과정의 방향을 설정하는데 쟁점이 되고 있는 이슈와 외국의 교육과정 사례 살펴봄으로써 교육과정 대상 연령, 교육과정 영역의 내용과 하위 내용, 교육과정 체제 측면에서 핵심역량과 연계한 교육과정을 개발하는데 적용될 수 있는 시사점을 찾고자 한다.
Abstract
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of Korea announced an advancement plan of early childhood education. The plan aimed for providing high quality early childhood education services, assuring an equal start for all children, and establishing the advanced system for early childhood education in November, 2009. Five policies were prepared to realize the plan, and one of the polices was the development of future-oriented early childhood curriculum. The core of the policy was to link the content of early childhood curriculum to key competency in early childhood. The purpose of this study is to review important issues in relation to the development of future-oriented early childhood curriculum and examples of curriculum in other countries. The implication for the development of future-oriented early childhood curriculum is provided in terms of age of children, curriculum areas and sub-areas, curriculum content, and curriculum structure.
