본 연구에서는 정신지체 장애아 부모들의 역량강화를 위한 부모교육프로그램의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 전형적인 실험연구인 전-후 시험 통제집단설계를 이용하여 그 개입효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과 부모교육프로그램은 참가한 부모들의 자기효능감과 대처능력의 향상 그리고 스트레스의 감소에 긍정적인 개입효과가 있는 것으로 검증되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 사용한 부모교육프로그램이 정신지체 장애아 부모들의 역량강화에 효과적이라는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과들을 볼 때, 정신지체 장애아 부모들의 역량강화를 위한 부모교육프로그램이 정신지체 장애아의 교육과 재활 그리고 사회적 자립에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 사회적 자원으로서 적극 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 나아가서는 본 연구의 결과가 정신지체 장애아를 둔 부모들을 가장 중요한 사회적 자원의 중심에 두고 그들의 역량과 역할을 강화하는 부모교육프로그램의 필요성을 제시하는 기초로서 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 정신지체 장애아의 교육과 재활, 나아가서 사회적 자립에 있어서 가장 중요한 사회적 자원으로서 부모들의 역할이 강조되는 부모교육프로그램과 부모 및 가족모임의 필요성 등을 지속적인 연구와 함께 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study verified the effectiveness of parents education programs for empowerment of parents with mental retarded children, using a pre-post test control group design. The results of this study verified that the program was effective to improve feelings of self-efficacy and coping capabilities, reduce stress of parents with mental retarded children. Therefore, it was found in this study that parents education programs had a positive impact on empowerment of parents with mental retarded children. From the results of this study, it can be seen that this program positively effects the education, rehabilitation and social independency of mental retarded children. The program can also be easily utilized as a community resource. Furthermore, the results of this study can be utilized as fundamental support to suggest the need for parents education programs for empowerment of parents with mental retarded children that emphasis on parents capabilities and roles as most important social resources for education, rehabilitation and social independency of mental retarded children. This study suggested the need to parents education program, supportive meetings for parents and families that emphasis on parents capabilities and role. Continuous study is needed in these areas.
