발달장애인의 지역사회생활에 관한 주민의 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인 -직접접촉경험 여부에 따른 비교-

본 연구는 발달장애인의 지역사회생활에 관한 주민의 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 가족 및대인관계를 포함하는 관계요인, 타 장애유형의 지역사회 내 배타수준을 확인한 배타성요인, 직접 및 간접 접촉경험을 파악한 접촉요인을 함께 고려하여 살펴보고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 다차원적 측면에서 검토하고자 하였다. 이에 20세 이상 주민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 최종수집된 자료 총 519부를 분석하였다. 연구에서 태도는 ‘권한부여’, ‘배제’, ‘유사성’의 세 개의 하위요인을 구분하여 분석하였으며, 그 결과 첫째, 발달장애인 지역사회생활에관한 주민의 태도 수준은 중간보다는 약간 긍정적이지만, 크게 긍정적이지 않은 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 가족 및 대인관계는 발달장애인의 지역사회생활에 관한 태도에 영향을 미치는요인으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 다른 장애 중 신체(외부)장애에 대한 배타성은 발달장애인의 지역사회생활에 관한 태도의 모든 영역에서 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 발달장애인의 간접접촉경험은 발달장애인 지역사회생활에 관한 태도에 모두 유의한 영향을 보였으며, 직접접촉경험 또한 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 배제 태도를 감소시키고 유의성을 높이는 것으로 확인되었다. 다섯째, 직접접촉경험 여부에 따라 발달장애인의 지역사회생활에 관한 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인들의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 하위요인 모두에서 공통적으로 간접접촉경험의 영향력이 유의한 차이를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 이를 통해 발달장애인에 대한 지역 사회 주민들의 수용적인 태도를 이끌어내기 위한 사회복지적 함의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study investigated the factors that affect the community members’ attitudes toward the community living of people with developmental disabilities. Specifically, relationships involving family and interpersonal relationships, exclusivity referring to the extent to which other types of disabilities are excluded in the community, and contacts involving direct/indirect experience were examined as the factors that affect community members’ attitudes toward the community living of people with developmental disabilities in multidimensional aspects. To this end, community members aged 20 or older were surveyed. The analysis of the data collected from 519 copies highlighted the following findings. In this study, attitudes were analyzed in terms of three sub-factors: empowerment, exclusion, and similarity. The results are as follows. First, the community members’ attitudes toward the community living of people with developmental disabilities were slightly more positive than the median, but not very positive. Second, family and interpersonal relationships affected the community members’ attitudes toward the community living of people with developmental disabilities. Third, the exclusivity toward people with physical disabilities had negative effects on all areas of their attitudes. Fourth, the indirect contact with people with developmental disabilities exerted statistically significant effects on their attitudes, while the direct contact statistically significantly reduced their exclusion attitudes and increased the statistical significance. Fifth, as for the differences in the factors affecting the community members’ attitudes toward people with disabilities between those with and without direct contact experience, significant differences were found in the indirect contact experience across all sub-factors. These findings have implications for social welfare, conducive to eliciting the receptive attitudes toward people with developmental disabilities from community members.
