Abstract

Curriculum is a basic educational guideline that represents core elements of studying, assignments, content, pedagogy, and material evaluation focusing on different forms depending on the particular time period, cultural, and social conditions. While anticipating the introduction of the curriculum in Korea in the near future, it is necessary to incorporate the current academics of global music education. Currently, a German elementary school located in state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) is also preparing to introduce their music curriculum into their course of study. First, their research briefly explains the preparation and the progress of opening the NRW elementary school curriculum. Secondly, it draws a twenty-year comparison between the contents of the traditional curriculum and newly proposed curriculum to explore what has been altered between the two methods. While the NRW's curriculum experiment has experienced many changes over time, the results of comparing these two curricula, from an evolutionary perspective, including detailed changes, several assignment additions with emphasis on content, has had a more dramatic impact then the basic frame experiment curriculum or revolutionary method. With our curriculum opening soon, we should incorporate the findings of the NRW school that professors and school related professionals must emphasize concerning the problems presented by the traditional curriculum and provide an opening for the new standard method. As we face these obstacles and make adaptive changes tested over time through real-world application in the classroom, we will pave the way to fresh teaching techniques for professors and intuitive ways for students to learn. These methods will build a solid foundation for a long term educational system.
