신동엽 시에 나타난 여성 표상 연구

Abstract

From the perspective of gender, the strategy of subjectivation of Shin Dong-yup’s poetry attempting to construct the collective subjectivity of ‘we-men’ through womankind’s otherization and colonization, in a some way, resembles the contemporary hegemonic masculinity that led to modernization and industrialization. This study proceeded with the discussion from understanding that this inner contradiction included in the Shin Dong-yup’s poetry, which seems to worship and praise femininity, can be a useful reference to gauge the being of ‘women’ still remaining as ‘void’ in contemporary korean poetic history. In body of this paper, it was considered through dividing into three chapters how to fill the contents of ‘we-men’ community by making the representation of women as constructive outside. In the first chapter, it was examined how the representation of women performs a function in the process that Shin Dong-yup is inventing a new form of historical subjectivity, prior to establishing counter-discourse against destructive modernity. In the next second chapters, it was explored how the representation of women performs a function in the process that his poetry construct postcolonial subjectivity to respond against situation of the third world. Finally, the third chapter focused on the following facts: how a male gender performance of Shin Dong-yup’s poetry confirmed earlier is reached in a direction re-enforcing, and what the specific properties of the representation of women used at this time is. The goal of this rereading about Canon that this paper attempts is not simply to re-claim the share which the history of literature have distributed to Canon. The ultimate goal of this study is not to Canon itself, but to search beyond the history of literature of “Men-Universality” that has distributed such a site to Canon. In that sense, this article is also a political practice for returning the suffered share to the “Women-singularity” that has been included in the slickly arranged korean literary history as constructive outside.
