공감의 기제로서의 서사 텍스트 - 「소문의 벽」과 「빈 방」을 중심으로

Abstract

This thesis aims to discuss the aspect that narrative text works as a mechanism of empathy targeted Lee Chung-jun’s fiction 「The Wall of a Rumor」 and 「The Empty Room」. The followings are summary account. At first, when discuss about ‘empathy’, it is very important concept that interrelationship. Fundamentally, the mechanism of empathy is formed by essential condition that ‘speech act’ and ‘active understanding of listener’. The narrative text is transformed by interaction of speeching and listening to writing and reading. So that make mechanism of empathy by revealed text and reading action. And there, In Lee’s fiction, there are characters that have damaged of statement system as mechanism of empathy. Lee’s text attempt to cure their damaged statement system by substitute for their lost ‘voice’. Because they cannot speech by themselves, so they need a voice that can speech in their voice, that appeared as narrative action of narrator in Lee’s text. But the problem point is there are effects of the logic behind ‘power’ that narrative action of narrators, likewise characters have damaged at statement system. Finally, narrative action of narrator cannot cure Lee’s character’s damaged statement system, and failure to make empathy with characters, because of ‘the other vigilance eyes’ that inherent in narrative action. About that, Lee’s fiction open the possibility of empathy, by making a distinctive narrative strategy and ask for response of authors. In the point that cannot make possibility of empathy, Lee’s text choose the narrative strategy in fictional ending that narrators handed over character’s unique symptom. And then, authors handed over that too. Lee’s text open the prospect of empathy, by disclose ‘the other vigilance eyes’ and ‘hidden power’ in the narrative action. For all these examination, Lee’s two fictions worked as the mechanism of empathy, appeared by distinctive narrative strategy that ask for ‘response’ of authors.
