현대시의 소재로 활용된 ‘국밥’의 서사 양상

Abstract

Food is a culture of a nation itself, life, and ideology, and food is a representation of various meanings that show biological concrete and cultural symbol systems. Food is a sensory representation that triggers shared memories and has more meaning than just enjoying the taste. Eating food is a narrative that is intimate through replaying memories. Since Baekseok which has boldly attracted food to poetic materials, the frequency of using food as a material of poetry has increased compared to the past. The writing of poems related to food is the reconstruction of poetic languages aroused through memory, the poetic material ‘food’ provides the poet’s experience narratives such as memories, inspirations, and tastes. This study examined the emotion expressed through the narratives implemented in ‘Gukbab’ the material of modern poetry. In the narrative of Gukbab, which was used as the subject of 9 modern poems, examined in this study, we can find the summoning of comfort from waiting, the aesthetic sublimation of harmony, the feeling of fellowship and inner confession. These emotions help us to know that Gukbab is a common food that reveals the emotions of ‘waiting’, ‘being together’ and ‘fellowship’ compared to other foods. To get a deep soup, Gukbab requires a long-term “waiting” to extort various ingredients, and it is also a food that eats rice in the soup that is made. Bibimbab is the most common food in the sense of ‘differing’. However Bibimbab is a new flavor when the process of making multiple herbs is complicated and combined. In contrast, rice can be eaten more easily without changing the original taste of food, even though the rice is mixed with the rice. The Gukbab is well suited to the community culture where many people share rice together. Compared to other foods, Gukbab is a more suitable food for forming a community fellowship because people who gather can easily eat at a price that is not burdensome anywhere.
