This study conducted and analyzed a survey to find out what perceptions Korean language learners have of the types of texts they encounter in educational texts and everyday life in Korea, and what types of texts they need for learning. The purpose is to find out how much Korean language learners understand about various text types and to what extent the text types for Korean language education correspond to the texts they encounter in their daily lives in Korea, and further examine the text types that should be used in Korean language education through a demand survey. The content of the textbook text has a great influence on the learner's learning. Therefore, in this study, a survey was conducted to determine learners' perceptions of texts used in Korean language education and the types of texts learners need while living in Korea. According to the survey results, the text type frequently encountered by learners during Korean classes was ‘text for conveying and understanding information.’ In addition, it was a text that was frequently encountered and difficult to learn in news and information broadcasting. There were also texts I didn't come across often, such as contracts, self-introductions, discussion papers, and academic papers, but I felt I needed to learn them in class. The research results of this paper can be used to create effective Korean text teaching methods in the future.
