Abstract
Remittances is the money transferred by migrants. This paper analyzed the remittance’s impacts on Latin America by the scale of migrant personnel, economy and government. Before 1970, the amounts of international remittances was ignorable but it grew as the expansion of globalization and transnational migration. In Latin America, migration is very important before and now. From the late 20th century, Latin Americans have emigrated on large scale. Latin American emigrants remit considerable sums of money to their hometown continuously. Remittances help emigrants’ family emerge from poverty and accumulate wealth. The amount of remittances exceeds that of FDI and ODA and the international financial organizations consider remittances as the alternative method of developing countries’ development. The mass influx of remittances boost local economy but it lacks of linkage with domestic industries and expand the relative gap between rich and poor. Remittances make impacts on native countries’ election and politics. Migrants are supportive to their homeland’s politics.
