This paper aims to reconsider the semantic nature of the connective ending '-느니.' It has been known to represent a comparative meaning. However, the comparative meaning in the '-느니' construction is not the representative meaning of '-느니' itself but rather presupposed in the speaker's reasoning process. This meaning can be manifested in the form of a realized comparative construction with '-느니,' but it is not easily discernible in general coordinate sentence with it. '-느니' is a connective ending that embodies the speaker's intention to exclude an undesirable situation, and in this case, the following clause results a different situation throughout such an exclusion.
