Abstract
The influence of Christianity upon Japanese Literature has been seen from Meijiyusin period. However, the major influence didn't occur till Akutagawa Ryunosuke, or Dajai Osamu appeared. This paper contemplates the initial unfinished manuscripts among Akutaga's works, which are few case studies had been done compared to others. In the works that had been written from 1910 to 1915, Akutagawa's various religious interests were reflected. Admiring perspective which is almost close to existential profession on Christianity (or a Christian) can be observed, as well as the cold and intellectual perspective. Also, the interest on Christao, which is related to Japanese mental-historic characteristic, and the conflict with Japanese folk- beliefs, can be observed. At thesame time, purely strong exotic interest can be observed, which is not related the former two at all. It is a natural tendency of early stage to have various perspectives. However, we still have to pay our attention to the fact that his agony and self-examination could be observed from his early works, although his agony and self-examination on a Christian, Christianity and Jesus had not been matured..
