In ‘Wangbaigushi’, there is a story on how Youhai Zhou and Baigu Wang are enemies and how Zhou satired Baigu Wang by changing the words on his poetry. In ‘Shanrenduilian’ Defu Shen criticized the arrogance of Shanren through the lines from chunlian(春聯) hanging on the walls of Baigu Wang, Xiangxian Qian, and Jiru Chen. In ‘Shanrenyuwang’, Defu Shen deplored, through stories that involved Shanren, how Shanren flattered the people of power at the time and disturbed the customs.
