Abstract

Native land is a concept of modernity. It contrasts with cities, modernity, and civilization. The study of Chinese native literature has also existed in the framework of a modern enlightenment study. On the basis of Western modern ideas, the Chinese rural literary theory also has a rhetorical appearance. However, it should be noted that the modern concept of “local literature” in the sense is not proposed and created by the Chinese people, but is derived from the West in Germany. Native literature is the product of 20th century Western modern civilization. Native land was gradually discovered and constructed in a complex historical social and knowledge system. In fact, when Zhou Zuoren and Lu Xun’s Chinese local literature advocates studied in Japan in the early days, Japan’s local literary theory and creations have flourished. The research literature on German native literature is quite limited and it is also a difficult point for cross-cultural studies. This dissertation attempts to sort out the overall characteristics of the German local cultural field and the Japanese native culture field. Focusing on the origins of local literature in Germany, Japan, and China, specifically the close relationship between the concept of “local literature” proposed by Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren and the local literature field in Germany and Japan. Due to differences in the political context of the country, the introduction of “local literature” integrates the multiple characteristics of Chinese native culture and foreign culture.
