Abstract

Compare of the Yan Fu and Lu Xun in their attitudes to the foreign culture and traditional culture. The purpose of this paper is not to compare the significance of the thought of the two, Yan Fu and Lu Xun. It is to compare the modern consciousness, the influence of the evolution theory and the attitude of the traditional culture of the two lived in anticolonial times after the collapse of the feudal system, In Chapter 2, it was examining differences between Lu Xun and Yan Fu on the acceptance phase of foreign culture; as the two returned to China after studying abroad, how to receive the influence of the West and Japan, how to accept the cultures. It was also evaluated ,through the theory accepted from the West, how they recognized the reality of China and to find solutions. In Chapter 3, it was examined how they responded to traditional culture. In fact, how to the two, the figure of the modern China in 19th century, respond to Western culture shock, criticise and reaccept traditional culture, it is still valid and actually provides the meaning in the 21st century.
