Abstract
This paper aims to examine the properties of the education space appearing in Magnesia based on the writings of Plato's Nomoi. Unlike Politeia, we can find specific details on urban planning and space in Nomoi. Temples, gymnasiums, and theaters are typical educational spaces and readily observable even in traditional polis, but it is possible to understand the purpose of Magnesia outside the lane. The location of the temple is at the highest place in Magnesia, which makes citizens remind the principle of dike. The temple is a playing space for young children who can build the rule in adulthood. Temples hold a spatial attribute that allows the distribution of intelligence and is an important theme that Nomoi aimed. Gymnasiums are traditionally an area where armed combat training and fitness are carried out. However, it is a region regarded as institutions of training of citizens with intelligence and moderation. Rather than the building of huge masonry that was contemporary fashion, theaters are close to the structural form of the initial formed naturally on the slopes around the temple. Concentration of choral song and dance is very high, considering the fact that all citizens joined the chorus to sing and dance. Therefore, it must be considered one of the educational spaces. Theaters will be able to run the ability to purify the feelings of citizens and form a sense of unity to pursue the correct way of life. Function on its structure shows a clear disparity in the surface details of the function and spatial arrangement fundamentally from other regions of the Ancient Greek. Magnesia is significant educational city that raises the need for a study of the late educational theory of Plato.
