兪得一의 『燕行日記草』에 나타난 대청인식과 의미

이 글은 兪得一(1650~1712)의 『燕行日記草』를 중심으로 대청인식 양상을 검토하고 그 의미를 밝히고자 한 것이다. 『燕行日記草』 연구를 통해 조선 지식인이 가졌던 대외인식의 일면을 살펴볼 수 있었으며, 상대적으로 개별 연행 작품 자체의 연구가 미진한 17세기 연행의 한 부분을 해명하였다. 『燕行日記草』에 드러난 유득일의 대청인식 양상은 세 가지의 면모를 보인다. 먼저 유득일은 형식적 측면에서 전략적 기술의 한 방편으로 고증적 글쓰기를 선택하였는데, 이는 객관성과 사실성을 중시했음을 말하는 것인 동시에 객관적 정세 인식을 보여주고 있다. 또한 대명의리론에 입각한 대청의식을 술회하였는데, 유득일은 특정한 지점에서 선택적으로 대청의식을 발현하였다. 비판해야 할 청나라의 모습과 긍정적으로 평가해야 할 것들을 엄정하게 구분하면서 감정적 선입견에서 벗어나고자 한 것이다. 마지막으로 청나라의 변모 양상 포착을 통한 의식 변화의 태동을 살펴보았는데 불교, 건축, 풍습에 관심을 기울이고 발전 양상을 고찰했음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 모두 의식 변화의 시작을 암시하는 것이다. 따라서 여기에서는 사유체계에서 모순된 논리들이 충돌하는 시기이자 과도기였던 명·청 교체기 이후 18세기로 이행하는 길목에서 유득일의 태도는 중립적인 입장에서 정세를 바라보고자 했던 움직임의 시작이었음을 확인하였다.
Abstract
This purpose of paper is to reveal and review a recognition against Ching of Yeonhaeng ilgicho(燕行日記草) written by youdeuk-il (1650-1712). According to the Yeonhaeng- ilgicho, it was able to confirm the recognition against Ching(對淸意識) in Choson intellectuals. And to explain the 17th century's Yeonhaeng that is deficient research of individual Yeonhaeng, relatively. A You deuk-il's awareness pattern about Ching dynasty in Yeonhaeng ilgicho shows the three aspects. First, he selected the bibliographical writing among the strategical writing method as a formal point of view, that is to say, he attached importance to the objectivity and reality in recognizing the situations. Secondly, he explained selectively the recognition against Ching based on the loyalty theory about Ming(對明義理論). Also, he strictly distinguished a critical aspect from a positive evaluation to get out of an emotional prejudice. Finally, in terms of the change of recognition through detecting transformation in Chung dynasty, we can realize that he was concerned the architecture and custom of Buddhism, and its development aspect. And these things were seen as the beginning of a recognizing change. As a result, This is the time when conflicting theory crash each other after transition period from the Ming dynasty to Ching dynasty. At the time, he's attitude attempted to observe the situation from neutral position.
