Abstract
Chungsandeulkae is a new perilla(Perilla frutescence (L.) Britton) variety developed at National Yeongnam Agricul-tural Experiment Station(NYAES) in 1998. This variety, originated from the pure line selection in Hadong local strains collected in1990. It is resistant to leaf rust(Coleosporium perillae) and has the heart shape leaf and gren hypocotyl. The flowering date wasSeptember 9 when it was planted on June 1. It has 3.9 g of 1,000 grain weight with light brown grain color. The grain contains44.7% of lipid and 63.1% of linolenic acid in the fatty acid composition. The yield potential of Chungsandeulkkae is about 1.4 MT/ha in grain and 7.5 MT/ha in fresh leaf when harvested twice in sumer. Chungsandeulkae would be adaptable in the midle andsouthern area of Korea.
