이 연구는 동물매개치료가 농촌지역 저소득 가정 아동의 자아존중감과 사회성에 영향을 검증하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 실험 집단은 전라북도 G시 소재 K지역아동센터의 방과 후 수업에 참여하는 아동 중에서 선발 된 5명의 초등학생으로 구성되어 있으며, 자아존중감이 150 점 만점에 91점 미만, 사회성이 75 점 만점에 60점을 받은 아동을 대상으로 진행 하였다. 연구 기간은 2개월 동안 동물매개치료 프로그램을 매주 50회씩 총 12회의 세션으로 적용하였다. 연구의 검증은 자아존중감 척도, 사회 척도 및 KSD (Kinetic School Drawing)를 사용하고 사전과 사후 측정하여 분석했다. 본 연구 결과 첫째, 동물매개치료는 저소득 가정 아동의 자아존중감 향상에 효과적이었다. 둘째, 동물매개치료는 저소득 가정 아동의 사회성 향상에 효과적이었다. 결론적으로 동물매개치료는 저소득 가정 아동의 자존감과 사회성에 긍정적 인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.
Abstract
This study is aimed at examining animal-assisted therapy's influence on self-esteem and sociality of children from low-income families in rural areas. Experiment group is composed of five elementary school students selected among those who participate in after-school classes in the children's center K in city G in Jolla province. Those who earned less than 91 points in self-esteem with 150 as a full points, and those who earned 60 out of 75 of full points were subject to the experiment, The study period was two months, and a total of 12 sessions of 50 rounds of animal-assisted therapy per week were conducted. The verification of the study was conducted using self-esteem scale, social scale, and KSD(Kinetic School Drawing) and the scales were measured before and after the experiment and analyzed. The findings suggest that first, animal-assisted therapy was effective in enhancing self-esteem of children from low-income families. Second, animal-assisted therapy was effective in enhancing sociality of children from low-income families. As a result, animal-assisted therapy was found to have positive influence on self-esteem and sociality of children from low-income families.
