본 연구는 초등학생에게 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램을 실시하여 아동의 또래관계와 자아개념에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램에 참가를 희망한 실험집단 아동 18명에게 2주 동안 주 5회 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램을 실시하였고, 프로그램 참가를 원하지 않은 15명을 통제집단으로 하였다. 수집된 자료를 SPSS 20 t-test를 적용해 분석한 연구 결과는 첫째, 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램이 실험집단 초등학생의 또래관계에 유의미한 영향을 끼쳤다. 둘째, 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램이 실험집단 초등학생의 자아개념에 유의미한 영향을 끼쳤다. 이상의 결과에서 말(馬)을 이용한 동물매개 프로그램이 초등학생의 또래관계와 자아개념을 향상 시키는데 효과적이었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide Equine Facilitated Program to the Children in Elementary School and identify its effects on their peer relationships and self-concept. For this purpose, Equine Facilitated Program was provided to 18 children in the experimental group who agreed to participate in Equine Facilitated Program five times a week over two weeks, and there were 15 children in the control group who didn't agree to participate. The collected data were processed by using SPSS 20 t-test, thus obtaining the following results: First, Equine Facilitated Program exerted significant effects on peer relationships among those children in the experimental group. Second, Equine Facilitated Program exerted significant effects on self-concept among those children in the experimental group. To put the results together, Equine Facilitated Program was effective in improving peer relationships and self-concept for the Children in Elementary School.
