윤리(학)에 대한 비트겐슈타인의 생각은 무엇일까? 필자가 보기에 그가 궁극적으로 주장하는 윤리이해의 열쇠는 ‘상-경험’에 있다. ‘상-경험’은 그의 전기사상에서 ‘영원의 상 아래에서 봄’으로, 후기에서는 ‘상-주목하기’으로 나타난다. 윤리(도덕성 기준)는 학문적 진리로 다룰 수 없지만, ‘영원의 상 아래에서 봄’과 ‘상-주목하기’라는 ‘상-경험’을 통해 인식될 수 있다. 두 개념(‘영원의 상 아래에서 봄’과 ‘상-주목하기’)이 온전히 동일한 것은 아니다. 전자(‘영원의 상 아래에서 봄’)는 신비의 영역에서, 반면 후자(‘상-주목하기’)는 특정 심리현상으로 나타난다. 그러한 차이는 전기와 후기 상이한 언어사상에 기인한다. 이 글은 비트겐슈타인의 전후기 언어사상을 기초로 두 가지 ‘상-경험’을 통해 어떤 의미의 윤리가 드러나는지 탐구한다.
Abstract
What exactly are Wittgenstein's thoughts on ethics? In my view, the key to understanding ethics that he ultimately advocates lies in 'experience of an aspect'. 'Experience of an aspect' appears in the early thought as 'seeing sub specie aeternitatis' and in the later thought as 'noticing an aspect'. Ethics(the standard of morality) cannot be treated as academic truth, but it can be recognized through 'seeing sub specie aeternitatis' and 'noticing an aspect'. The two concepts ('seeing sub specie aeternitatis' and 'noticing an aspect') are not entirely identical. The former('seeing sub specie aeternitatis') emerges in the realm of mystery, while the latter ('noticing an aspect') manifests as a specific psychological phenomenon. This difference stems from the different language philosophy of Wittgenstein's early and later periods. This article explores what kind of ethics is revealed through these two 'experience of an aspect', drawing on Wittgenstein's early and later language philosophy.
