본 연구는 사회복지직의 정체성과 전문성에 관한 논의와 관련하여, 정신보건 사회복지 분야의 전문화 과정을 살펴보고 발전방향을 탐색하고자 한다. 이를 위한 논의의 기초로 사회복지실천의 전문화의 의미와 전문직화 과정의 문제점을 제기한다. 정신보건 사회복지분야의 전문화 방향에 관한 논의는 다학문적 접근의 이차현장에서 갖게 되는 전문성에 관한 개념적 혼란과 정체성의 문제를 살펴보고, 사회복지실천 영역으로서의 통합적인 발전방향을 모색한다. 사회복지서비스의 목표와 구성, 정신보건 사회복지사의 역할과 정체성, 사회복지실천교육과 정신보건사회복지사의 수련과정을 중심으로 사회복지실천과 정신보건 분야의 공통기반을 마련하고 통합적 정신보건서비스체계를 마련하기 위한 방안을 검토한다.
Abstract
This article analyzes the theme of the professionalization of social work in the field of mental health. Throughout history, social workers have struggled in identifying their roles and organizing their efforts to define social work as a profession. This article discusses ongoing issues regarding the identity of the social work profession and the specialization of its fields. In spite of the struggle to advance their status as professionals, currently, social workers in the field of mental health face many dilemmas in defining their professional base. Several ways are proposed to integrate clinical approaches to social work practice and develop a comprehensive mental health service system, including the following : Defining goals and objectives of mental health programs imbued with professional purpose and values, identifying professional roles reflecting contexts of practice, and bringing about changes in social work curriculums and training programs emphasizing the common base of social work practice.
