정신보건센터의 사회복지 실습과제 개발 연구: 개입연구 방법을 적용한 사례관리 프로그램 개발

초록

본 연구의 목적은 정신보건센터의 만성정신장애인을 위한 사례관리자로 사회복지 실습생을 활용함으로써, 현장의 사례관리서비스를 활성화하고 실습생의 전문적 사회복지실천기술을 향상시킬 수 있는 실습프로그램을 개발하는데 있으며, 이를 수행하기 위한 연구방법으로서 개입연구방법을 활용하였다. 본 연구에서 고안한 프로그램은 만성정신장애인을 위한 다양한 사례관리 모델에 대한 실증연구, 메타분석 연구 등에 대한 고찰의 결과 강점관점과 과제중심실천모델의 실천전략을 적용하였다. 본 연구자의 지도아래 정신보건센터에서 주 3회 실습을 수행한 사회복지학과 4학년 학생이 현장에서 사례관리 서비스를 제공함으로써 본 연구에서 개발한 모델의 시험적 수행이 이루어졌고, 수행에 대한 평가는 클라이언트의 변화(사례관리목표 성취)와 서비스에 대한 반응(만족도와 사례관리자와의 관계), 실습생 변화(사례관리 단계별 실천기술)와 실습과제에 대한 반응, 마지막으로 본 프로그램에 대한 수퍼바이져의 반응을 통해 이루어졌다. 이러한 시험적 수행의 결과, 겨냥한 개입목표의 달성에 어려움을 보이는 등 프로그램 설계와 평가도구의 선정에서 불완전성과 혼란한 점이 발견되었으므로, 결과로 나타난 문제점에 대해 적절한 수정이 이루어짐으로써, 연구결과의 실천적 유용성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 이 모델이 향후 실습과제의 하나로 자리잡고 만성 정신장애인의 크고 작은 생활문제 해결에 유용하게 활용되기 위해서 본 연구에서 수행된 연구의 반복적인 재실험을 통한 보다 많은 사례연구의 축적과 이에 기초한 계속적 수정이 필요하리라 생각된다.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to design and test the educational utility of case management program as a means of aiding social work students in enhancing their practice skills. Design objective was to develop a set of practice guidelines for case management services with chronically mentally ill. These practice guidelines were expected to help students more effectively assess and intervene with client everyday needs by providing a conceptual framework and a word to word interview skills. Consistent with the project's goal, it's evaluation focused on the clients achievement of goal and improvement of student practice skills in case management, especially in formulating concrete goal and identifying supportive resources within clients' personal networks. Among three chronically mental ill people who were served by social work student case manager, only one was able to achieve the short-term goal of immediate change in a target problem. The students participated in the project reported that they were provided with an opportunity to develop their skills in strength oriented case management and thereby were helped to sharpen practice skill. Based on the outcomes and the feedbacks from the participants of first pilot testing, the manual was refined. Although the study lacked better evidence on the effects of the program, it suggested possibilities of using paraprofessionals such as social work students as an effective case manager in mental health field, and at the same time provided a new training program in social work field practice.
