초등학교 도덕교과서에 나타난 아버지상과 어머니상 분석: 제1차∼2009 개정 4∼6학년 교과서 토픽모델링 분석을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 토픽모델링 기법을 활용하여 제1차∼2009 개정 교육과정 4,5,6학년 도덕교과서에 나타난 아버지상과 어머니상을 분석해보았다. 분석결과 반공과 국가발전관련 주제들은 아버지와 주로 연관을 보였으며 가정생활은 어머니와 연관되어 공적영역의 아버지상과 사적영역의 어머니상이 뚜렷하게 대비되어 나타났다. 7차 교육과정 이후로는 도덕교과서 항목 중 국가와 가정 영역이 축소되고, 지구화와 과학기술변화 등의 시대변화를 반영하여 새롭게 추가된 개인생활이나 사회생활 항목에서 상대적으로 아버지와 어머니가 고르게 등장하여 도덕의 성별화 현상은 완화되었다. 그러나 새롭게 강조되는 인권, 환경보호, 다문화, 공동체와 협동, 과학기술과 인터넷 등에 관련된 항목의 서술에서도 6차 이전 교과서에서 반공이나 국가발전 관련 주제들을 서술할 때의 방식과 유사하게 아버지와 어머니의 접근은 거시적·사회구조적 접근 대 미시적·개인적 접근, 과학적·이론적 접근 대 실천적·경험적 접근으로 차이를 보여 아동들에게 상이한 아버지상과 어머니상을 형성시켰던 것으로 보인다. 생계책임자로서의 ‘도구적 아버지상’ 및 ‘현모양처 어머니상’은 90년대 중반이후 기혼여성취업률의 증가와 노동시장의 유연화라는 변화된 환경에서 아버지의 위기 담론과 어머니의 위기 담론을 초래한 배경으로 작용하였다. 그런데 해방이후 2000년대까지의 도덕교과서에 나타난 위와 같은 아버지상·어머니상은 우리사회에서 ‘생계책임자 아버지상’ 및 ‘현모양처 어머니상’이 끈질기게 명맥을 이어오는데 한 기반이 되었던 것으로 추정된다.
Abstract
This article analyzed the father’s and mother's image, which appeared in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade moral textbooks of the first through 2009 curriculum using the topic modeling technique. According to the results, the topics of anti-communism and national development are mainly related to the father, and the family life topics are related to the mother, which clearly shows the father image related to the public domain and the mother image related to the private domain. As father-related national development and anti-communism topics and mother-related family life topics have been reduced since the 7th curriculum, the gender differentiation of moral domains has been alleviated. However, in the description of items of the moral textbook, the father’s and mother’s approach differ from each other: the macroscopic social structural approach vs the microscopic personal approach, and the abstract theoretical approach vs the concrete empirical approach. The difference in approach in the description of the textbook topics seems to have created a different father-mother image in the children, which are based on the instrumental father image as a breadwinner, and the mother image of ‘good mother and wise wife’. Those father's image and mother's image, formed through the moral textbook, became a cause of the father crisis discourse and mother crisis discourse- which have emerged since the mid-1990s in the changing environment of increasing married women's employment rates and the flexibility of the labor market.
