Abstract
The purposes of this study was to examine the accuracy of wearable devices to measure physical activity levels, which were step counts. A total of 48 adults (10 males and 38 females) were participated in this study. Eight of wearable devices including Actigraph, Armband, Omni Peodmter, Fitbit Charge, Fitbit One, Feual Band, Jawbone, and Galluxy Note 2 were selected to examine the accuracy of the physical activity levels dring the treamill, moving papers on the table, mopping, stair up and down, and mopping, which were the most frequently employed. Actigraph and Fitbit One were the most accurate and Nike Pure Band was the least accurate wearable measures. During the free-living activity, the most wearable devices were less accurate comparing to the walking and running activities. Measuring steps utilizing Actigraph as more reliable than armband and omni pedometer, which is most frequently employed in the researches. In the future, wearable devices should be considered to measure type, pattern, and intensity of physical activities rather than energy expenditure (Kcal) and steps taken.
