본 논문은 근대 자유주의 담론에 의거한 서구의 복지 개념이 개인, 권리, 공평성(impartiality)을 확보하는 문제를 해결하는 데에는 긍정적 시사점이 있지만, 주체들의 관계성, 공동체적 연대, 감정, 편파성(Partiality), 차이 등의 문제에 대해서는 간과하고 있다는 점을 비판적으로 인식한다. 따라서 단지 개인들의 권리 차원에서 복지 문제를 거론하는 것이 아니라, 개인의 도덕적 감성의 차원이 함께 거론되어야 할 것을 강조한다. 이러한 논의는 여성주의 방법론에 의거하여 이루어질 것이며, 따라서 고립적이고 추상화된 개인을 상정하는 것이 아니라 관계 중시의 태도와 공동체적 유대를 견지하는 여성주의 보살핌의 윤리에 기반한 복지 개념을 제시한다. 이러한 때문에 본 논문은 특히 단지 이성에 기반한 보편적 도덕 원리나 개인의 권리의 차원만을 강조하는 방식이 아니라, 공동체적 연대, 개인의 도덕성, 감성 등을 무시하지 않는 복지의 방식을 모색하는 것에 중점을 둔다. 그리고 이를 유가 철학의 인, 관계 윤리, 공동체주의, 친친 등의 핵심 사상을 통해 논의하고자 한다. 이러한 논의를 통해 이제껏 진정한 의미의 복지 개념으로 주목받지 못하고 단지 위정자의 자선이나 시혜의 차원에서만 논의되었던 유가 철학의 복지에 관한 사상을 본격적인 ‘유교적’복지 개념으로 조망해볼 계기를 마련해준다. 더 나아가 ‘한국적’ 상황을 고려한 복지 개념을 논의하는 데까지 확장할 수 있다.
Abstract
This thesis gives positive implication that Western welfare concept, based on modern liberalist discussion, resolves the problem of procuring individual, rights, and impartiality, but critically perceives the fact that it overlooks issues such as the relationship among subjects, communal solidarity, emotion, partiality, and difference. Accordingly, the thesis attempts to not only bring up the issue of welfare at an individual right’s dimension, but also emphasize the need to discuss the dimension of individual ethical feeling together. That is, this thesis wishes not to bring in an isolated and abstract individual, but to bring up how important it is to adhere to relationship-valuing attitude and communal solidarity when discussing the problem of welfare. In this context, this thesis does not simply emphasize the level of general ethical principle or individual rights based on rationality, but focuses on searching for ways of welfare that do not neglect communal solidarity, individual’s morality, and emotion. Also it tries to discuss this through the core idea of Confucian philosophy such as benevolence, relationship ethics, communalism, and Qin-Qin. Through these discussions, the thesis will be able to view the genuine concept of ‘Confucian’ welfare that transcends the former idea of welfare in Confucian philosophy, which was only discussed at the level of administrator’s charity and dispensation and did not receive attention for a true meaning of welfare. Furthermore, this thesis can discuss the concept of welfare that considers “Korean” conditions.
