본 연구는 인류세 환경문제를 인식하고 대응하는 데 행위적 실재론으로 비인간 세계에 대한 인간의 책임과 행위성을 탐색하여 책임 윤리를 규명하는 것이 목표이다. 인류세 문제에 관한 자연과학적 연구는 비인간 세계에 인간개입을 배제하려는 생태중심주의나 환경문제를 과학 기술로만 대응하려는 소위 에코 모더니즘과는 다른 새로운 인간의 책임과 윤리적인 개입을 요구한다. 행위적 실재론은 현실 사건이 인간과 비인간 세계의 관계에서 발생하고, 따라서 인접한 개체와의 관계를 윤리임을 강조하며 책임 윤리에 이론적 토대를 제공할 수 있다. 이와 유사하게 신인간중심주의는 인간 책임의 윤리로 지속가능한 사회체제로 전환하여 대응하는 데 주요한 근거를 제공할 수 있지만, 비인간 세계와의 관계성을 비판하고 인간이 초행위자라는 개념을 강조한다. 신인간중심주의의 초행위자적 태도는 인류세 시대 팬데믹 문제에서 미생물과의 관계를 외면하며, 인간의 가치와 신념을 좌절하게 할 수 있기 때문이다. 기후변화에 대응하는 지속가능한 사회체제로 전환하는 것과 인간-바이러스의 관계성을 다루는 문학작품에서 행위적 실재론 관점을 확인한다면, 비인간 세계로 인간의 윤리적 개입과 관계 속의 행위성에 우리의 신념을 어떻게 시도할 수 있는지 참고할 교훈을 얻을 수 있다. 더욱이 문학작품에서의 예시는 대중이 자기 삶에서 비인간 세계와 관계성 중심의 책임 윤리를 내재화하는 데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out ethics of responsibility on public awareness and engagement of the Anthropocene environmental issues with agential realism. The scientific studies on the Anthropocene issues require new human responsibility and ethical engagement unlike ecocentrism that is likely to prohibit human engagement from the non-human world, or eco-modernism that only depends on technology responding to these issues. Agential realism can give a theoretical base to human ethics of responsibility with agency of human-nonhuman world relations and ethics of making any relations with them. Agential realist ethics of in the Anthropocene give a theoretical and realistic perspective to trying zero-net-carbon world and pandemic responses based on human-nonhuman relationship. Furthermore, the examples on literature can contribute to public internalization of ethics of responsibility in the Anthropocene.
