사회복지학전공 대학생의 호스피스 사회복지 교과 및 비교과 수강 경험에 관한 연구
A Phenomenological Study on the Experiences Participating in the Subjects and Non-subjects Programs of Palliative & Hospice Social Work of Undergraduate Students Majoring in Social Welfare

본 연구는 사회복지학전공 대학생의 호스피스사회복지 교과 및 비교과 프로그램 수강 경험의 본질을 파악하고자 수행되었다. 연구는 사회복지학전공 대학생 13명을 대상으로 호스피스 사회복지 교과 및 비교과 프로그램에 참여한 경험에 대한 심층 면담과 현상학적 연구방법에 의한 분석으로 진행되었다. 심층면담은 2018년 12월3일부터 12월 21일까지 학생들이 편안하고 자유롭게 얘기할 수 있는 공간에서 40분 ~ 2시간 동안 진행되었다. 1회 면담 구성 인원은 1명, 2명, 4명 등 학생들의 요구에 따라 구성하였다. 면담 전 연구 참여자의 동의를 구하고 녹취 및 필사되었으며, 필사된 내용은 Giorgi 현상학적 체험연구방법을 통해 분석되었다. 연구 참여자들이 밝힌 호스피스 사회복지 교과 및 비교과 프로그램 참여 경험의 본질은 19개의 의미 있는 주제와 7개의 주제묶음으로 도출되었다. 7개의 주제 묶음은 ‘새로운 지식 습득’, ‘현장 호스피스 사회복지사의 모습을 봄’, ‘호스피스 사회복지의 비전 발견’, ‘자아 성장의 기회’, ‘삶과 죽음의 의미 고찰’, ‘좋은 경험 속의 아쉬움’, ‘뜻밖의 선물’로 파악되었다. 7개의 주제묶음은 학생들이 정규 교과목에서 접할 수 없었던 호스피스 사회복지의 의미와 지식을 배우고 전문가로서 요구되는 자질과 역할, 그리고 비전을 발견했다는 것을 의미했다. 또한 호스피스 사회복지 비교과 프로그램을 통해 다양한 배움을 얻었다는 결실로 나타났다. 학생들은 호스피스의 의미, 호스피스사회복지, 호스피스 사회복지사, 삶과 죽음 등 학과 전공 교과 커리큘럼에서는 접할 수 없는 지식을 얻게 되었다. 또한 호스피스의 필요성과 중요성, 그리고 교육에 대한 욕구를 가지고 있었다. 대학의 사회복지학과 교수는 학부교육에 호스피스 이론 교육의 필요성 인식과 교과목 개설을 통한 전문 인력 양성에 노력해야 할 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to understand the essence of the experience of participating in the subjects and non-subjects programs of palliative and hospice social work of college undergraduates majoring in social welfare. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews with 13 students who participated in the subjects and non-subjects programs in palliative and hospice social work and was analyzed through phenomenological research methods. All interviews were digitally recorded and transcribed with the consent of the participants. As a result of the analysis, 19 meaningful themes and 7 theme clusters on the essence of the experience of participation in the programs of palliative and hospice social work were derived. The 7 theme clusters are as following; ‘acquisition of new knowledge’, ‘seeing the hospice social worker’s aspect of the field’, ‘finding the vision of hospice social welfare’, ‘opportunity for self-growth’, ‘review of the meaning of life and death’, ‘regret in a wonderful experience’, and ‘unexpected gift’. The seven theme clusters meant that the students learn the meaning and knowledge of hospice social welfare that was not available in the regular curriculum, discover the qualities and roles required as professionals and the vision of hospice social work. In addition, the results showed that they learned various things through non-subjects. Students became acquainted with hospice knowledge such as hospice, hospice social worker, life and death that was not available in the subject curriculum of major subjects. They also recognized the need and importance of hospice, and had a desire for hospice lectures. Professors in social welfare departments of universities should recognize a need of hospice theory education in undergraduate education. In addition, it is considered that hospice social welfare lectures should be opened in the social welfare major curriculum to nurture professional manpower.
