본 연구는 디지털 전환 시대에 고령층의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하고, 디지털 정보격차 해소를 위한 정책적 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 한국지능정보사회진흥원이 실시한 ｢2023년 디지털 정보격차 실태조사｣ 데이터를 활용하였으며, 고령층을 대상으로 디지털 정보 역량 수준과 디지털 정보 활용 수준을 독립변수로, 디지털 기기 이용 태도를 매개변수로 설정하여 삶의 만족도에 대한 영향관계를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 디지털 정보 역량과 활용 수준은 고령층의 삶의 만족도에 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 디지털 기기 이용 태도는 이들 변수와 삶의 만족도 간의 관계를 유의하게 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 단순한 기기 보급이나 기술 교육을 넘어서, 고령층의 디지털 기기에 대한 태도 개선과 긍정적 경험 축적이 삶의 질 향상에 핵심적이라는 점을 시사한다. 이에 따라, 지방자치단체 간 벤치마킹을 통한 지역 맞춤형 전략 수립, 일상생활 밀착형 디지털 교육 프로그램 활성화, 우수 활용사례의 확산, 디지털 친화적 인식 제고를 위한 캠페인 등다각적인 정책적 접근이 요구된다.
Abstract
This study aims to empirically examine the factors influencing life satisfaction among older adults in the era of digital transformation and to derive policy implications for addressing the digital divide. Utilizing data from the 2023 Digital Divide Survey conducted by the National Information Society Agency of Korea, the analysis focuses on older individuals. Digital information capability and digital information utilization are set as independent variables, while attitudes toward digital device use serve as a mediating variable in the relationship with life satisfaction. The results indicate that both digital information capability and utilization significantly and positively affect life satisfaction among older adults. Furthermore, attitudes toward digital devices significantly mediate this relationship. These findings suggest that beyond providing devices or technical education, enhancing digital attitudes and fostering positive experiences with technology are essential to improving quality of life for the elderly. Accordingly, a multifaceted policy approach is needed, including regionally tailored strategies through interlocal benchmarking, expansion of practical digital education programs, dissemination of exemplary cases, and awareness campaigns to promote a more digital-friendly perception among older populations.
