The aim of this study is to examine the errors, that occur when Russian learners perceive Korean consonants, through the statistical method of multidimensional scaling. It was also considered whether such errors are related to acoustic cues and succeeding Vowels after consonants. To that end, the perception test was conducted on 19 Russian learners, and the result of the test was analyzed through multidimensional scaling. The results of this study were as follows. The subjects classified Korean consonants based on the manner and the place of articulation. However, unlike Koreans, they seemed to perceive affricatives and fricatives similarly. In addition, although VOT and F0 differed depending on the phonation type of plosives, the subjects did not identify them correctly. This seems to indicate that VOT and F0 may not be an important factor in identifying the phonation type for Russian learners. On the other hand, the pattern of identification error was different according to vowels following consonants. Thus, it shows that consonant identification errors of Russian learners are affected by the following vowels.
