This study aims to determine data volume characteristics of narrative and tostudy construction measures of narrative data for linguistic study. Namely, thisstudy aims to understand linguistic structure of narrative data, and to discuss thedocumentation and formation measures upon building bulk of narrative corpus forqualitative and quantitative study. Narrative study has traditionally focused on thestory in the flow of qualitative study; however, in recent corpus linguistics orcomputer science-like discourse analysis, narrative research results attemptingquantitative approach are produced. In spite of active narrative studies in manyresearch sectors and many data accumulated thereby, there has hardly beenresearches that focused on the construction measure by approaching narrative asa data object. The reason can be interpreted that the narrative study tends to bebuilt in small-scale data centered on individual researcher and used by individualprotocol. This study, therefore, argued about narrative data constructionmethodology that can be used both in qualitative study centered on small-scaledata and quantitative study based on bulk of narrative data by focusing on corpuslinguistics point of view. This study took the following questions as the startingpoint for this study. Firstly, what types of narrative are there for humanities andlanguages study? Secondly, what should be considered upon building narrativedata? Thirdly, how to make narrative archive for researcher? In order to solvethese questions, this study organized the characteristics of narrative data (chapter2), researched collection, input, markup and annotation measures of narrativedata, and discussed how to design narrative archive in Korea by investigatingdomestic and foreign major narrative archives (chapter 3).
