This study aims to examine astructure-centered methodology with which to analyze actual dialogue data oflanguages by observing the text and frame structure of a conversationalnarrative, and to conduct a case analysis based on Korean language dialoguedata. Toward these ends, a theoretical review of the structural properties ofconversational narrative was conducted with the focus on the inner textualstructure and the discourse organization of narrative conversation. Additionally,the frame structure concept of a conversational narrative was investigatedthrough both its ‘tellability’, which considers whether a story is appropriate tothe dialogue context, and its ‘experientiality’, which signifies the storyrecognition of the participants who intend to talk about the significance ormeaning of an experience. From the structure-centered perspective, theopening and closing structure and the story structure of the narrative casewere analyzed based on everyday dialogue data from the Korean language. The case analysis results showed that the conversational narrative structure ofthe Korean language is marked by the construction of an allusive and explicitinvitation to a story, which is contrasted by a simpler closing structure, or a‘commentary structure’. The findings shed light on various structural featuresof Korean conversational narratives and their meaning, which is brought tobear upon the interaction between the storyteller and the recipient.
