이 연구는 일반 목적 국어사전에서 다단어 표현들이 어떠한 층위에서 어떻게 기술되고 있는지를 살펴본 뒤 그 문제점을 짚어 보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 국어사전에서 다단어 표현을 전면적으로 등재하거나 기술하고자 할 때 해결해야 할 문제에 대해서도 고민해 보았다. 국어사전에 기술되는 다단어 표현들은 형태적, 통사적, 의미적으로 그 유형이 다양한데 기술 방식 또한 다양하게 나뉘어 있어 그 일관성이 부족하고 선정 기준 등이 분명하지 못했다. 본고는 다단어 표현에 주표제어의 지위를 줌으로써 이 문제를 해결할 수 있다고 보았고 그를 위한 방안에 대해서도 거시적으로 고찰해 보았다는 데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine how multi-word expressions are described and categorized in Korean dictionaries and identify the issues inherent in their current representation. Through this analysis, the study also sought to explore potential problems and solutions for fully incorporating and systematically describing multi-word expressions in Korean dictionaries. Multi-word expressions documented in Korean dictionaries exhibit a wide range of morphological, syntactic, and semantic variations, and the methods of description are equally diverse. This lack of consistency, coupled with unclear selection criteria, poses challenges in their systematic documentation. This paper argues that granting multi-word expressions the status of primary headwords can address these issues. Furthermore, it offers a broad exploration of strategies to achieve this, marking its significance in advancing the methodology for representing multi-word expressions in Korean lexicography.
