본 연구는 ⌜한국어기초사전⌟에 등재된 의성의태어와 이들에 접미사가 결합하여 형성된 파생어의 제시 방식 및 미시 구조의 제시 현황을 확인하였다. 의성의태어는 소리나 모양을 본뜬 단어로, 일반적으로 부사 범주에 속하지만, 접미사와 결합하여 용언으로 기능할 수도 있다. 특히 한국어에서 의성의태어는 다양한 변형을 통해 어휘 확장의 중요한 역할을 하며, 한국어 학습자가 감정과 분위기를 더욱 풍부하게 표현할 수 있도록 돕는다. 본 연구는 ⌜한국어기초사전⌟에서 의성의태어와 그 파생어가 제시되는 방식을 분석하고, 그 과정에서 나타나는 문제점을 도출하여 개선 방향을 제안하였다. 사전에 등재된 의성의태어 정보가 일관성 없이 제시될 경우, 학습자에게 혼란을 초래할 수 있다. 따라서 어근이 되는 의성의태어의 표제어 등재, 의성의태어 파생어 정보의 통일된 제시, 표제어의 등재 여부와 관계없이 관련 어휘의 총괄적 제시, 그리고 기본 반복형 의성의태어의 참고어 제시 등과 같은 측면에서 보다 체계적인 기술이 필요함을 시사한다. 또한, 본 연구는 학습자 사전에서의 정보 기술 제공 방식 개선을 위한 방향을 제안함으로써, 향후 사전 정비를 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study examines the presentation methods and microstructural representation of onomatopoeia and mimetic words, along with the characteristics of their derivatives formed through suffix combinations, as documented in the ⌜Basic Korean Dictionary⌟. Onomatopoeia and mimetic words are linguistic expressions that imitate sounds or shapes. While they generally belong to the adverbial category, they can function as verbs or adjectives when combined with suffixes. Particularly in Korean, onomatopoeia and mimetic words play a crucial role in vocabulary expansion through various transformations, enabling Korean language learners express emotions and nuances more vividly. This study examines inconsistencies in the presentation of onomatopoeia, mimetic words, and their derivatives in the 『Basic Korean Dictionary』 and proposes directions for improvement. The unconstructured and inconsistent representation of onomatopoeia and mimetic words may lead to confusion among learners. The findings highlight the necessity of a clearer and more systematic representation of onomatopoeia and its derivatives in learner-oriented dictionaries. To achieve this, this study emphasizes the inclusion of root onomatopoeia and mimetic words as headwords, the standardized presentation of derivative forms, the comprehensive listing of related words regardless of their headword status, and the inclusion of cross-references for basic repetitive forms. These insights can serve as foundational data for future dictionary revisions.
