기업의 혁신성이 수익성에 미치는 영향: 국내 제조업 기술혁신기업을 대상으로

본 연구는 몇 가지 기준에 의거 연구개발 활동을 활발하게 수행한다고 평가되는 기술혁신기업을 선정하고 이들 기업을 대상으로 기업수준에서의 혁신성이 수익성에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있다. 선정된 총 7,151개 기술혁신기업을 OECD 기준의 4개 기술집약도군-고기술, 중고기술, 중저기술, 저기술산업군-으로 구분하고, 각 기술군별로 혁신성이 수익성에 미치는 영향력에 차이가 있는지 분석하였다. 분석대상 기술혁신기업들 중에는 중고기술산업에 속하는 기업이 43%로 가장 많고 그 다음으로 고기술산업에 속하는 기업이 37%를 차지하고 있어 기술혁신기업의 80% 가량이 대체로 기술수준이 높은 산업에 속해있다. 기업의 수익성은 경상이익과 매출액대비 경상이익의 두 가지로 측정하였으며, 혁신성은 R&D투자액을 이용해 측정하였다. 혁신성이 수익성에 미치는 영향을 회귀분석한 결과 기업수준에서 혁신성은 수익성에 유의한 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기업의 개방도 역시 유의한 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 기업의 연혁이 길수록 수익성이 높고, 대기업의 경우 이러한 영향력이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 기술수준별로 살펴본 결과 저기술 수준에 속하는 기업군을 제외하고는 혁신성과 개방성은 기업의 수익성에 유의한 양의 영향을 미치며, 고기술수준과 중고기술수준에 속한 기업들의 경우 기업의 연혁이 길수록 수익성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
In this paper we analysis the effects of firms' innovation on their profit using innovative manufacturing firm data which certified by several Korean governmental organization. Classify these innovative firms into four groups-high technology industries, medium-high technology industries, medium-low technology industries and low technology industries-based on OECD R&D intensity criterion. The majority of innovative firms are included in high technology industry-43% are included in medium-high technology industries and 37% are in high technology industries. The proxy of profit is ordinary profit and the ratio of ordinary profit to sales. And use the R&D investment for innovation level. The empirical result shows as follow : 1) The level of firms' innovation investment measured by R&D investment positive effect on profit. 2) The openness of firms' are also effect on profit positively. 3) The history, and size of the firm also effect on profit positively. 4) The effects of R&D investment on profits are vary for their technical levels. The effect is most vigorous in high technology industry. While the low tech industry, the innovation has no impact on its profit.
