『大學』 편차에 따른 해석의 차이 - 주희의 『대학장구』와 전시의 『대학관견』을 대상으로 -

본 논문에서는 전시라는 중국 송대 인물의 『대학관견』을 연구의 대상으로 삼고 있다. 그는 개정이 가해지지 않은 『고본대학』을 저본으로 해야만 성현들의 본의를 파악할 수 있다고 여겼기에, 『대학』을 經과 傳으로 구분하지 않고 착간이나 궐문이 없이 온전한 문장으로 여겼다. 또 그는 가장 먼저 『대학』 전체를 여섯 장으로 나누어 요지를 파악했기에 ‘『대학』 육분장설’의 효시라고도 할 수 있다. 그는 『대학』의 ‘格物’을 해석하면서 『중용』의 ‘明善’을 인용하였고 또한 『논어』와 『중용』을 해석하면서 『대학』을 인용하기도 한다. 이런 일관된 해석은 성인의 道가 하나였다는 (『논어』 ‘一以貫之’의) 방증이기도 한다. 하지만 후대에 많은 학자들이 경전을 임의로 개정함으로써 그 본의가 흐려지고 여러 학설로 나뉘게 되었다. 그러므로 본고에서는 전시의 『대학관견』에서 말하는 경전의 요지를 드러내기 위해 주희의 『대학장구』와 비교를 진행한다.
Abstract
In this article, I tried to reveal the characteristics of Qianshi’s interpretation of The Great Learning through comparison with Zhu Xi’s interpretation. Qianshi tried to reinterpret the old version of the Great Learning by dividing chapters or paragraphs in a new way. And he did this to recover the original meaning of the old classic which has been distorted by Zhu-xi. Zhu Xi placed more emphasis on the chapter on the Gaining Knowledge through Study of Things格物致知. Therefore Zhu Xi considers as the lack of contents about that, and he rewrited it. But Qianshi thinks that there was nothing missing in The Great Learning. He also explained that the whole of The Great Learning has contents about the Sincere誠意. We look at Zhu Xi’s interpretation which is based on Neo-Confucianism, and Qianshi’s interpretation which is based on the Scool of the Mind, and find out the differences in their point of view about The Great Learning.
