본 연구는 지속가능한 미래를 위해 유아들의 자연 환경과의 공존에 대한 올바른 인식과실천을 위한 동기 부여의 방법으로써 명상의 교육적 의미를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해명상과 통합된 자연탐구활동을 실시한 후 자연스럽게 전개되는 유아들의 탐구활동을 살펴보고, 그 속에서 명상의 교육적 의미를 도출하였다. 연구문제는 첫째, 명상과 통합된 유아의 자연탐구활동의 특징은 어떠한가? 둘째, 유아의 자연탐구활동과 통합된 명상의 교육적 의미는어떠한가? 이다. 연구방법은 질적 사례 연구로서 명상과 자연탐구활동을 통합시켜 교육을 하고 있는 B유치원의 만 5세반을 대상으로 하였으며, 유아의 활동사진 및 활동 결과물, 교사의활동일지, 교사 면담 자료 및 연구자의 일지를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 명상과 통합된자연탐구활동은 보살핌을 위한 자발적인 자연탐구활동으로 나타났다. 둘째, 본 연구에 적용된 명상의 교육적 의미는 유아들이 탐구대상의 생명력에 관심 가지고 주의 깊게 바라보기, 탐구대상의 생명력 느끼고 교감하기, 탐구대상에 대한 선입견 해제하기를 지원한 점이다
Abstract
This study explored the educational meaning of contemplation to find a proper strategy that encourages nature-friendly thoughts and actions in young children to be aware of the importance living together with nature for sustainable future. For this, contemplation was integrated into children’s nature inquiring activities and studied to deduce the educational meaning. To achieve this aim, this study was implemented with the following two questions. First, how is the children’s nature inquiring activities integrated with contemplation? Second, what is the educational meaning of contemplation integrated in the children’s nature inquiring activities? As a qualitative case study, this research was conducted with a class of 5-year-old children attending B kindergarten located in B city. Data was collected from the photographs which showed the children’s activities, teacher’s journal, interviews with the teacher and the researcher’s journal. The results were as follows. First, children’s self-motivated inquiry to take care of living things emerged from nature inquiring activities. Second, the educational meaning of contemplation was that contemplation spurred children to have interest in living things, be attentive to them, feel for them, and release their preconceptions about them.
