조형활동에서 나타나는 유아의 놀이양상과 교사의 반응에 관한 사례연구

본 연구는 만 5세 유아들이 조형활동에서 나타나는 놀이와 이러한 놀이에 관한 교사의 반응을 사례연구방법을 통해 알아보았다. 연구대상은 어린이집 만 5세 구름반 유아 18명과 교사 1명이다. 연구결과, 조형활동에서 나타나는 구름반 유아들의 놀이는 ‘조형활동 그 자체를 놀이로 즐기기’, ‘조형활동을 변형해서 놀이로 즐기기’, ‘조형활동의 결과물을 활용하여 놀이로 즐기기’ 이상 세 가지 양상으로 나타났다. 이러한 놀이에 대한 교사의 반응은 놀이양상에 따라 차이가 있었다. ‘조형활동 그 자체를 놀이로 즐기기’에 대한 교사의 반응은 창의적인 표현으로 확장해주기 위해 다양한 자료들을 충분히 제공해주는 환경제공자와 관련한 반응, 결과물에 대한 관심과 격려의 반응을 보였다. 활동과정 중에는 관찰은 하지만 직접적인 개입은 조심스러워하였다. ‘조형활동을 변형해서 놀이로 즐기기’에 대한 교사의 반응은 당황하면서 고민하는 가운데 제한과 허용사이에서 갈등하지만 대체로 허용하는 반응이었다. ‘조형활동의 결과물을 활용하여 놀이로 즐기기’에 대한 교사의 반응은 유아가 계획한 놀이로 즐기는 양상에 대해서는 관심과 격려를 보이며 놀이로 확장시켜주기 위한 반응을 보였으며, 교사가 계획한 놀이로 즐기는 양상에 대해서는 놀이 계획자와 놀이 참여자의 역할을 보이는 등 놀이와 관련한 교사의 반응이 나타났다.
Abstract
This study is supposed to treat which aspects of play 5-year-old children show and how their teacher responds to them in the art activities with case study method. The objects of this study were 18 members of children and their teacher. In order to collect these data, the contents of participating observation and interviews have been transcribed in the field notes after 51 times of participating observations, 7 times of in-depth interviews with the teacher, informal interviews with the teacher and children, videotaping and documenting the pictures of art works. The findings were as follows: First, the children's play in the art activities shows three categories of aspects such as enjoying an art activity itself, getting pleasure from the application of it and finding pleasure in the outcomes of it. Second, the teacher's responses to the aspects of children's play vary among their different play aspects in the art activities. The teacher's responses to enjoying the art activity itself are a trial to play a role as an environment-giver providing children with enough data to expand into creative expressions, a concern and an encouragement for their products. In coming into play, he/she just observes them but abstains from intervening in, and lets them free leaving their play as it is. The teacher's responses to getting pleasure from the application of the art activity are at first undergoing conflict; remaining confused by deciding if he/she would restrict or allow it, but, at last generally permitting it for the unlimited and creative art activity. The teacher's responses to finding pleasure in the art activity products are both a concern and an encouragement for the aspect of play designed by a child to expand into play or to develop into social play and, meanwhile, roles as a planner, an attendant and so on for the aspect of play programmed by a teacher.
