본 연구는 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 관점에서 드러나는 그림책 읽기 경험양상을 찾는데 목적이 있다. 연구 참여자는 0～만 5세 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니 8명으로 매주 1회, 회당 2시간정도, 총 12회, 그림책 읽기 과정에 참여하였다. 본 연구를 위해 읽기 경험에 참여한 어머니의 면담, 저널 등을 수집하였다. 연구의 자료는 트라이앵귤레이션(triangulation)을 준거로(Mathison, 1998) 다양한 자료 수집, 심층 기술을 하였으며(Denzin, 1989) 연구자가 유아교육 전문가 3인과 독립적으로 자료 분석에 참여하는 다중 참여자 분석을 하였다. 본 연구에서 드러난 그림책 읽기 과정에 참여한 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 경험양상은 그림책 재발견, 자녀와의 그림책 읽기 등으로 나타났다. 본 연구에 의하면, 그림책 읽기 경험은 유아뿐만 아니라 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니에게도 그림책의 구성요소와 그림책에 대한 이해를 돕는 긍정적인 역할과 기능에 대한 시사점을 제공하고, 부모-자녀와의 그림책을 활용한 읽기 경험에 대한 기초자료를 제공한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe some experience of mothers with young children in picture book reading process. Participants for this study were eight mothers with children from 0 to 5 years old. They participated in the meeting of picture book reading process 12 times per week for 2 hours each. In-depth interviews and journals from the mothers were collected for the data collections of this study. The analysis of data in this study was based on triangulation (Mathison, 1998) and in-depth (Denzin, 1989) analysis of multiple participants participating in data analysis independently of three early childhood education specialists. As a result of this study, the experiences of mothers with young children who participated in picture book reading process appeared a understanding of picture book and role of themselves as mediator of picture book reading. Through this study, maternal experience of reading picture books shows some implications for a positive function of understanding on picture book not only for young children but also for mothers. It also provided the exploratory data about some benefits of reading experience using picture book reading with parents.
