본 연구는 보육교사의 문화적 공감이 다문화 역량과 상호문화역량에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 하위요인 간의 관계를 실증적으로 밝히고자 하였다. 연구대상은 부산광역시 어린이집에 재직 중인 보육교사 219명이며, 문화적 공감, 다문화 역량, 상호문화역량을 측정하기 위해 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 29.0을 활용하여 기술통계, 상관분석, 위계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 보육교사의 문화적 공감은 다문화 역량과 상호문화역량 모두에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 상호문화역량에 대한 설명력이 더 높게 나타났다. 또한 문화적 공감의 정서적․인지적 구성요소는 각 역량의 하위요인별로 차별적인 영향을 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 문화적 공감이 보육교사의 다문화 역량 및 상호문화역량을 형성하는 핵심 기제로 작용함을 보여준다. 특히, 정서적․인지적 공감이 각 역량의 하위요인에 미치는 차별적 영향을 규명함으로써 공감 기반의 실천 중심 교육과, 역량별 맞춤형 연수 설계의 필요성을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the effects of childcare teachers’ cultural empathy on their multicultural and intercultural competence, and to empirically examine the relationships among their sub-factors. The participants were 219 childcare teachers working at childcare centers in Busan, South Korea. A structured questionnaire was administered to examine cultural empathy, multicultural competence, and intercultural competence. The collected data were examined using SPSS 29.0 through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results showed that cultural empathy had significant effects on both multicultural and intercultural competence, with a stronger explanatory power for intercultural competence. Furthermore, the emotional and cognitive components of cultural empathy showed differentiated effects on the sub-factors of each competence. These findings suggest that cultural empathy serves as a key mechanism in shaping childcare teachers’ multicultural and intercultural competence. In particular, the study highlights the need for empathy-based and practice-oriented teacher training programs, as well as differentiated training designs tailored to each dimension of cultural competence.
