초등학생의 학년과 성별에 따른 자기결정성 수준이 학업성취도에 미치는 효과

이 연구는 초등학생의 학년 및 성별에 따라서 자기결정성 수준이 어떻게 달라지고 있으며 동기유형들이 초등학생들의 학업성취도에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구대상은 G광역시 7개교 4, 5, 6학년 1,350명이었다. 학습자들의 자기결정성 수준에서 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있는 것은 확인된 조절이었고, 외적 조절은 가장 낮은 비율인 것으로 나타났다. 초등학생의 자기결정성 수준에서 학년에 따라서 유의미한 차이를 보이는 것은 외적 조절(F(2,1350)=13.31, p<.01), 확인된 조절(F(2,1350)=4.39, p<.05), 내재적 조절(F(2,1350)=15.82, p<.01)인 것으로 나타났고, 학년이 올라갈수록 자기결정성이 더 낮아지는 결과를 나타냈다. 또한 외적 조절(F(1,1350)=11.38, p<.01), 확인된 조절(F(1,1350)=11.57, p<.01), 내재적 조절(F(1,1350)=8.64, p<.01)에서는 성별에 의한 차이가 나타났다. 외적 조절을 제외한 나머지에서 모두 여학생이 남학생보다 높은 것으로 나타나 여학생이 남학생보다 더 높은 자기결정성을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 동기유형별 학업 성취도의 차이를 살펴본 결과 유의미한 차이(F(4,1236)=11.94, p<.01)가 있었으며, 부과된, 확인된, 내재적 동기유형에 속하는 학습자일수록 높은 학업성취도를 보였다. 즉, 자기결정성이 높은 동기유형일수록 학업 성취 수준이 더 높다고 말할 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the types of motivations(external, introjected, identified, integrated and intrinsic regulations) will affect on students' achievement. Total of 209 elementary 4th, 5th, 6th graders responded to the questionnaires at pilot test. The modified questionnaires were administered to 1,374 elementary 4th, 5th, 6th graders, after data cleaning 1,350 responses were used in the final analysis. The results of the present investigation confirms that the most of graders are responded to identified regulation at the reason of studying and as grade progresses more students reveal the tendency of external regulation. Also the female students reveal more stronger than the male students in tendency of intrinsic regulation. The results showed that the difference of academic achievement by the types of self-determined motivation is progressively higher as the motivation types moved toward the self-determined(introjected, identified and intrinsic motivations).
