본 연구는 초등학생을 대상으로 학업불안과 자기결정능력이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 학업불안의 영향에 대한 자기결정능력의 조절효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 K도와 G도의 12개 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 553명을 대상으로 기초학력진단-보정시스템 진단검사, 학업불안 검사, 자기결정능력 검사를 활용해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21을 활용하여 다중회귀분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 학업불안은 학업성취도에 유의한 부적 영향을 미치고 자기결정능력은 학업성취도에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자기결정능력은 학업불안이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 완화하는 조절변인으로 작용함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 자기결정능력이 학업 상황에서 학생의 정서적 안정 및 학업 수행을 지원하는 요인임을 시사한다. 이상의 내용을 바탕으로 초등학교 시기 자기결정능력 향상을 위한 교육적 개입의 중요성을 강조하며, 이를 위한 지원 방법으로 자기결정교수학습모형(SDLMI)의 활용 가능성을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effects of academic anxiety and self-determination on academic achievement among elementary school students and to investigate the moderating effect of self-determination on the relationship between academic anxiety and academic achievement. The Basic Academic Skills Assessment System diagnostic test, an academic anxiety scale, and a self-determination scale used to collect data from 553 fifth- and sixth-grade students in 12 elementary schools located in K and G provinces. The collected data were analyzed using multiple regression and hierarchical regression analyses with SPSS 21. The results showed, first, that academic anxiety had a significant negative effect on academic achievement, while self-determination had a significant positive effect. Second, self-determination was found to moderate the impact of academic anxiety on academic achievement, mitigating its negative influence. These findings suggest that self-determination serves as a protective factor that supports students’ emotional stability and academic performance in educational contexts. Based on these results, the study emphasizes the importance of educational interventions aimed at enhancing self-determination during the elementary school years and proposes the Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction (SDLMI) as a practical strategy for implementation.
