주체문학 전성기 『조선문학』(1968∼94)의 매체전략과 ‘3대혁명소조원’ 전형론

이 글에서는 북한에서 주체사상이 유일체계화된 1967,8년부터 김일성이 사망한 1994년까지, 이른바 ‘주체문학 전성기’에 문예지 『조선문학』의 문학사·매체사적 흐름을 분석하였다. ‘주체문학 전성기’ 앞뒤의 매체사적 변모 분석과 함께 이 시기 창조된 새로운 인간형인 ‘3대혁명소조원’ 전형론에 초점을 두었다. 이 시기 『조선문학』(1968∼1994) 권두 문건과 특집 기획란의 역사적 변모를 전수 조사하였다. 문예기관지의 편집체제를 통시 분석하여, 문예지적 성향을 보였던 ‘권두언과 권두시, 문학사적 고전’ 중시에서 신년사 등 ‘비문학 정책과 김일성·김정일 개인숭배’ 중심으로 변모했음을 밝혔다. 개인숭배 전달도구로 정착된 문예지의 매체전략에 따라 ‘3대혁명소조원’(1975∼93)의 형상이 대표 전형으로 부각되었다. 이들은 성혜랑 단편 「혁명전위」(1974) 주인공 영희처럼 수령에 대한 무조건적 충성을 절대 덕목으로 갖춘 ‘청년인테리’이다. 빨치산 투쟁과 전쟁 체험, 의욕만으로 혁명을 수행했던 선배 세대와 달리 정규교육을 받아 이론과 논리로 무장한 지식인·과학기술자, 기술교육을 받은 청년 노동자·농민이 바로 '3대혁명소조원'의 전형이다. 그러나 1980년대 말부터 현실 사회주의 체제의 문제가 속속 드러나면서 이들 형상은 더 이상 전형성을 얻을 수 없었다. 지도자에 대한 절대 충성과 헌신성을 갖춘 만능천재 같은 이들 형상은 북한의 현실에 기반을 둔 전형이 아닌 지나치게 이상화된 문화정치적 수사에 불과했던 것이다.
Abstract
This study was intended to analyze the literature and media trends of Joseon Literature, a literature magazine at the so-called apex of 'Juche Literature(1968-1994). Along with that, we focused on the typology of ‘Small-unit-members of 3 Revolutions’(1975-1993) who emerged as new humanity of literature during this period. In the first pace, we conducted a diachronic investigation of whole historic changes revealed in front page literatures and special theme columns of Joseon Literature. The results showed the shift of emphasis away from literary front page words/poems and literary classics towards the non-literary party policies and personal worship of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jung-Il. ‘Small-unit-members of 3 Revolutions’ were highlighted as the most typical form of humanity in accordance with the media strategies that relegated the literature to a tool promoting the personal worship. They are “youthful intellectuals” with unconditional royalty to the Leader as the absolute virtue. Unlike the older generations who carried out the revolution based only on their experience with partisan struggles, war, and enthusiasm, the unit-members were epitomized by the intellectuals and scientific technicians who received regular education and were armed with theories and logics, and young workers and peasants who received technical trainings. However, their literary images became out of synch with reality as the limitations of the socialist system began to be revealed from late 1980s. That was because the images of all-around and versatile genius with royalty towards the Leader did not represent a model based on the reality of the North Korea but were tantamount only to excessively idealized cultural and political rhetoric.
