본 연구에서는 우리 경찰 공무원들의 대인간 의사전달활동에 초점을 맞추어 그 실태를 진단해보고자 하였다. 의사전달에 대한 기존 연구 내용들을 분석하고 가장 단순하면서도 유용한 의사전달모형 중의 하나인 Johari Window 모형에 대하여 논의한 후, 대구지방경찰청 소속 9개 경찰서를 대상으로 경무ㆍ생활안전ㆍ수사부서 근무자 256명에 대한 설문조사를 통해 연구를 수행하였다.연구결과를 간단히 정리하면 다음과 같다. 우선, 대표적인 대인간 의사전달 모형인 Johari Window 모형이 경찰공무원들의 의사전달 실태를 파악하는 유용한 측정도구가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, Johari Window 모형에 따른 우리 경찰공무원들의 의사전달 유형은 A유형(Type A)으로 나타났다. 이는 최소한의 노출과 환류 활동만으로 의사전달이 이루어지는 것으로 조직 내 타인들과의 의사전달이 매우 미미하며 조직의 효율성보다 자기보호에 더욱 관심을 가지고 있음을 보여주는 것이다.셋째, 경찰서별 경찰공무원들의 의사전달활동에는 유의미한 차이가 발견되지 않았으며 이는 의사전달 활동이 거시적인 측면보다는 개인적 특성 등을 비롯한 미시적인 측면에 보다 민감하게 반응할 수 있음을 보여주는 것이다.넷째, 경찰서 내 부서들 사이에서의 의사전달활동은 노출과 관련된 측면에서 경무부서가 타 부서들에 비해 보다 적극적인 것으로 나타났으며 이는 경무부서의 조직 특성에서 일정 부분 그 원인을 찾을 수 있었다.다섯째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따라 의사전달활동을 비교한 결과 개인의 의사전달 활동이 신분안정감 등의 인식에 따라 다양하게 표출되고 있음을 확인하였다.
Abstract
A Study on Police ComunicationKim, SanghoEfective comunication is esential in al organizations, and especialy in law enforcement agencies, in which people deal with one another. As the single most important aspect of interpersonal practices, interpersonal styles of comunication - the way in which parties to a relationship comunicate with each other - has ben studied in many fields.Aplying Johari Window model, which is one of the simplest and most useful comunications models, this study evaluated comunication styles of Korean Police Oficers. Johari Window was developed in 1955 by Joseph Luft and Hary Ingham and established four basic types of comunication paterns in relation to the proces of exposure and fedback. Based on that model, Jay Hal and Martha Wiliams developed a questionaire which is comprised of 20 items. In this study the questionaire was used.For the research, 256 samples from Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency were surveyed. The construct validity of the questionaire was confirmed through factor analysis, and the internal reliability was god.Acording to this study, the mean Johari Window scores for Korean Police Oficers were 26 and 24 percentile scores for Exposure and Fedback, respectively.
