Abstract

Educating the world`s various folk music not only broadens the musical spectrum of students, but also helps them prepare for life in a global environment by understanding and respecting other cultures. However, since the folk music of each culture is diverse, it is difficult for teachers to understand and teach such musical diversity. Therefore, world music education is worthy of the socio-cultural education rather than music. However, most of the world music in the current music textbooks do not contain enough socio-cultural contents. In this study, the social and cultural contents embedded in the traditional lullabies are analyzed and explained to suggest the educational values of the traditional lullabies for world music education.
