본 연구는 다변화 사회의 다양성 수용과 긍정적 상호소통을 위해서 새로운 국면을 맞고 있는 다문화 음악교육에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히는데 목적을 두고 있다. 현대의 다문화 교육은 다양한 문화 개별성을 인정하고 집단 간의 차이를 이해하는 과정을 통하여, 사회의 복잡성과 문화, 사회의 구성을 비판적으로 성찰할 수 있는 능력을 기르는 것을 강조한다. 다문화 음악교육 역시 음악의 보편성보다는 음악의 문화적 개별성을 강조하면서 음악에 내재한 개별 문화의 삶과 문화의 고유성을 이해하고 성찰함으로써 타인을 이해하고 자신의 정체성을 확립하여 긍정적 차원의 사회적 실천력을 기르는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구에서는 다문화 음악교육의 성립과정 및 확장된 의미와 함께 실천을 위한 이론들을 비교 제시하고, 우리나라 다문화 음악교육의 향후 과제로 음악의 본질과 다양성 수용의 균형, 국악교육에서의 다문화 음악교육 의미 제고, 우리 사회의 문화적 다양성에 대한 인식 확대, 종족 음악의 정통성 확보, 그리고 다문화 음악교육을 위한 교사 역량 개발의 필요성에 대하여 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to broaden the understanding of multicultural music education, which is facing a new phase in order to accommodate diversity in a diversified society and to communicate positively. Through the process of recognizing various cultural individualities and understanding differences among groups, modern multicultural education emphasizes the ability to critically reflect on the complexity of society, its culture and its composition. Multicultural music education is also aimed at understanding others and establishing one's own identity by emphasizing the cultural individuality of music rather than the universality of music and understanding and reflecting the unique nature of individual culture in music. In the study, the theories for practice for multicultural music education was presented in comparison with the establishment process of multicultural music education and extended meaning. The study also discussed the need to balance the essential nature and diversity of music in educational context; enhance the meaning of multicultural music education in Korean traditional music education; expand awareness of cultural diversity in our society; secure legitimacy of ethnic music in practical context; and develop teachers' capacity for multicultural music education.
