장애인 아버지의 심리적응에 관한 현상학적 연구

본 연구의 목적은 장애 자녀를 양육하는 아버지가 경험한 심리적응의 의미와 본질을 이해하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해, 학령기 장애 자녀를 양육하고 있는 아버지 6명을 대상으로 심층면담을 통해 3개의 영역에서 5개의 구성요소, 17개의 하위구성요소가 도출되었다. 첫 번째 ‘다시 넘어야 하는 산(山)’은 학령기 장애아 아버지가 경험하는 어려움들이다. 이 본질은 ‘경제적 부담’, ‘갈 곳도 받아주는 곳도 없음’, ‘몸만 자라는 아이’, ‘걱정되는 미래’, ‘마주하고 싶지 않은 현실’의 구성요소가 포함되었다. 두 번째, ‘아이가 주는 희망’은 장애아 아버지의 심리적응에 도움이 되는 자녀의 요인으로 ‘나아지고 있는 아이’, ‘적응해 가는 아이’, ‘어느새 훌쩍 커버린 아이’로 나타났다. 세 번째, 가장(家長)의 자리’는 아버지 자신의 요인으로 ‘미안함이 가져다 준 변화’, ‘아버지라서 견딤’, ‘가장의 책임감’, ‘존재 그대로 인정’, ‘꺼지지 않는 희망’으로 구성요소가 포함되었다. 네 번째, ‘주변의 도움’은 사회관계적 요인으로 ‘힘이 되어준 사람들’의 구성요소로 나타났다. 마지막으로 장애아 아버지 적응의 결과로 나타난 ‘지금의 행복’은 ‘진짜 소중한 것을 알아감’, ‘아이 따라 나도 성장’, ‘이대로도 좋아’의 구성요소로 도출되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning and the essentiality of psychological adaptation experienced by fathers who bring up their handicapped children. In response to this, I have had data collected through in-depth interviews with 6 fathers who take care of school-aged children with handicaps. Results of data analysis produced 5 components and 17 sub-components from 3 domains. First, ‘Difficulties that begin again’ consists of difficulties experienced by fathers with their handicapped children. The essential meaning includes its sub-components: ‘Financial burden’, ‘Nowhere to go and to be welcomed’, ‘A child who gets bigger’. ‘Concerned future’, and ‘A reality that I do not want to face’. Second, ‘Hope given by the child’ is a positive factor of the child which helps with their fathers’ psychological adaptation, and ‘A child who is getting better’, ‘A child who adapts’, and ‘noticeably grown child’ are sub-components of ‘Hope given by the child.’ Third, ‘The position as a father’ is a component of father's own factor, and it consists of sub-components: ‘Changes caused by an apology’, ‘Enduring because it is a father’, ‘Father’s responsibility’, ‘Accepting it as it is’, and ‘Hope that dose not disappear’. Forth, ‘Help from others’, which is helpful for psychological adaptation, is a factor of social relationship, which includes ‘Supportive people’ as a sub-component. Lastly, the result the essential meaning of ghe ‘Current happiness’ as a result of the psychological adaptation of fathers with disabled children produced sub-components, such as ‘Realizing something really important’, ‘Mental maturity along with the child’, and ‘Satisfaction as it is’.
